Media: sterling silver, 18ct gold, ruby.
The two blank castings have been joined to form a Double Ring. Each half represents the North or South Island and a Bridge connects the two entities. Central to the North Island is a volcano, represented by fire opal (from Mexico). The texture comes from Ossa Sepia technique. Along the South Island is a ridge to show the Southern Alps. The structure in the metal is in Shibori technique. A folded ribbon of silver forms the connecting bridge, representing the common tin roofs of New Zealand. The Double Ring is a favoured form in my work. It enables a larger scale ring to sit comfortably on the hand, eliminating the common turning of the stone. In angling the shanks, finger movement is unobstructed, but this specifies wearing on the right-hand (in this case). I have developed this form over 50 years of practice. ‘Abridged’ refers to condensing the two individual items to one unit. $1,780.00 To purchase the ring, please contact Christine on 03 265 8071 or email [email protected] View more of Christine's work at TheArtistGoldsmith.com |
